We decided to do something different with this necklace.  A colored resin horse was made and applied to the stone with epoxy.  It was fitting, since the stone came from Marston Ranch in Oregon, a private property where this jasper is mined.  It is an agate/jasper replacement of petrified wood that was included in a bog eons ago.  It contains beautiful striations of green, yellow, red and white.   It comes on an 18" stainless steel chain and the pendant measures 1 1/4" wide at its widest point by 1 1/4" tall.

Though jaspers are hardy, durable stones, the best method for cleaning poppy jasper is to simply use warm soapy water with a soft cloth or brush. Be sure to dry the stone and all jewelry settings thoroughly before storing or wearing. Remove jasper jewelry before playing sports or any other activity leading to perspiration. Clean jaspers quickly if they become dirty to preserve the colors of this porous stone. It is also best to avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat.
